The ongoing round of Riihimäki city's participatory budgeting has progressed to the implementation evaluation phase. It was possible to leave proposals and it is worth it on the participation platform until October 31. By the deadline, 75 proposals were submitted.
Proposals that gathered at least 10 endorsements progressed to the implementation evaluation stage. There were 56 such proposals. The number of proposals and those that progressed to the implementation evaluation thus remained almost the same as in the previous two years.
"During November, city employees evaluated all 56 ideas and prepared cost estimates for them. In order to further refine the proposal, the city can contact the proposer or other stakeholders," project manager Mira Ahjoniemi says.
In addition to the cost estimate, city employees ensure that the proposals comply with the rules and principles of participatory budgeting. All proposals advancing to the vote must be in accordance with Riihimäki's strategy and values, be of general benefit, and must bring joy to as many townspeople as possible. In addition, the city must have the authority to implement the ideas.
Ideas in the implementation evaluation phase can be viewed in advance on the participation platform.
After the implementation evaluation, the townspeople get to vote on which of the proposals will be implemented. The voting phase begins on January 8, 2024.
