Accessibility statement

The goal of the city of Riihimäki is that the use of online services is as smooth as possible for all users. Accessibility is taken into account in the development of the city's digital services.

This accessibility statement explains how Riihimäki city websites comply with the law on the provision of digital services, what shortcomings there are in the website's accessibility, and how you can give us feedback on accessibility problems.

Accessibility refers to the ease of use and comprehensibility of websites, mobile applications and the content published in them. Accessibility is defined in more detail In Directive 2016/210 of the European Parliament and of the Council2 yes in the Act on the provision of digital services 306/2019.

This accessibility statement applies to the Riihimäki city's www.riihimaki.fi page and the pages below it, which were made with the same WordPress publishing program.

In addition, the city owns parallel addresses for the above sites, which are also covered by this accessibility statement.

The website of the city of Riihimäki was published in 2021. The technical implementation of the website is Geniem, from May 2023 Hion.

Accessibility status

The website is largely compliant WEB Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 required requirements at A and AA level.

Inaccessible content

Perceptible

The website contains attachments and forms that are not accessible in all parts. The purpose of the files is checked and they are updated to be accessible the next time the file is repaired or updated. We strive to create all new files and forms in an accessible format.

The video contents are not accessible in all respects. Accessibility problems mainly concern city council meeting videos and video discussion and information events organized for city residents and lasting more than 45 minutes. The city does not subtitle or produce a text equivalent for these videos due to the unreasonable burden. The basis is that the expertise and resources of the city's personnel are currently not sufficient to provide the service. In connection with the annual update of the accessibility statement, the city evaluates the correction of unreasonable burden.

Some of the contents of the web pages are presented in table form. The website is built to be responsive, but some of the tables are so large that seeing them in their entirety requires, for example, two-way scrolling on a smartphone.
