Service network reform
The goal of the service network reform is to modify the city's service network in such a way that it responds as well as possible to the challenges and opportunities of the future operating environment, both functionally and financially. The service network has been worked on in Riihimäki since 2019. In 2020, the city council decided on the service network for the first time. In 2022, the council reviewed its decision again. After this, the implementation of the decision started.
The council decided on the service network
The Riihimäki City Council approved the new service network for the city's premises at its meeting on 29 August 2022. The council unanimously made two changes to the City Board's basic proposal. The proposals that the use of the Patastenmäki Tiilikoulu property be assessed according to the need for use and that the location of the college building's functions in the Voimala property as part of the property's development be investigated in connection with the needs assessment for the School Complex were approved. You can read the minutes of the council meeting here.
The steering group's presentation on the service network on June 21, 2022 can be found in the reform background materials.
The City Board decided on the implementation of the service network
The Riihimäki City Board decided in its meeting on 19 September 2022 to launch a needs assessment for Itäinen School and to launch a needs assessment for Opistotalo, so that in connection with the Opistotalo needs assessment, an alternative option would be to locate Opistotalo's operations in the Voimala property. The City Board also decided to update the business premises program. The business premises program takes into account the investment capacity of the city's current situation and must include a schedule for changes to the service network. The statements of the relevant committees must be requested on the business premises program, after which it will be submitted to the City Board for consideration.
