My Rickshaws

The winning entry in the Riihimäki knitting competition, My Little Rickshaws, is a masterpiece by Satu Suominen – check out the pattern and knit your own!

The city of Riihimäki commissioned the knitting pattern for My Rickshaws together with Willamagia – so that everyone could knit their own, competition-winning wool socks and bring a touch of local history to their own handicrafts.

My Riksukat are knitted from the shaft to the toes. The socks start with a sturdy rib knit, after which the embroidery section begins. There are two size options for the shaft of the sock, depending on the width of the calf. The socks are knitted with a Dutch heel design in a beautiful cross-reinforced knit. The embroidery continues on the toe section of the sock until the toe decreases. There are two size options for the toe section of the socks, depending on the length of the foot.

Tip! The length of the blade part can be further adjusted to be shorter/longer by modifying the embroidery pattern. Omit or add intermediate layers in the embroidery pattern of the blade, so you get the blade of just the right length.
