What makes Riihimäki beautiful, special, and dear to you? What kind of moment, landscape, or place in Riihimäki makes you proud or happy? Take part in the Rakas Riihimäki photo competition organized by the City of Riihimäki – we are looking for photos that capture the spirit Riihimäki!

What kind of photo can you submit?

Rakas Riihimäki photo competition is looking for photos that highlight the best aspects of the city.

You can get inspiration for your photography from, for example, the city's sights, history, events or street art. The R element and colors of the city of Riihimäki can also serve as sources of inspiration, but they are not mandatory to use. You can also find inspiration from the Riihimäki brand guide and visual identity.

Photos must be taken in a public place and should clearly feature recognizable elements of Riihimäki. The photo can be taken with a mobile phone or a system camera. Landscape, portrait, or square formats are all acceptable.

When photographing, consider the atmosphere, angle of view and lighting: what kind of image or mood do you want to create and convey about Riihimäki? However, the photo does not need to be technically perfect, the feeling and story it tells are what matter most.

How to participate?

Submit a photo you took yourself using the form at the bottom of this page or by email to viestinta@riihimaki.fi. You can only enter the competition with one photo.

When submitting your photo, please include your first and last name. If you wish, you can also tell us about the background of the photo: Why is the place, subject, or situation meaningful to you? What does the photo tell us about Riihimäki?

Who can participate?

All adult residents of Riihimäki and anyone interested in Riihimäki can participate in the competition.

Competition date

The competition runs from June 18 to August 10, 2025.

Prizes and announcement of winners

The three best shots will be selected from the photos submitted to the competition, and the photographers of these shots will receive two theater tickets to the comedy musical Opehuone at Riihimäki Theatre and Riihimäki products. The prize is worth just over 100 euros.

The winners will be selected at the end of August by the City of Riihimäki’s communications and marketing staff. The results will be announced on the city’s website and social media channels, along with the winners’ names. In addition, the winners will be contacted directly via email.

Competition entry and image properties

• You can enter the competition with any photo you take depicting Riihimäki.
• You can enter the competition with a maximum of one image. If a participant submits more than one image, only the first image submitted will be considered for the competition.
• By participating in the competition, you confirm that the photo was taken by you, meaning that you have the copyright to the photos you submit.
• Participants must be of legal age.
• The photo must have been taken no more than a year ago.
• If the photo features people who are identifiable, the participant must ensure that they have obtained permission to use the photo. The participant is responsible for obtaining permission and states that permission has been requested when participating.
• The image must be high-resolution and in JPG, JPEG or PNG format.

Image rights and use of images

• By participating in the competition, you give permission for the image to be used in the communications and marketing of the City of Riihimäki on the city's channels.
• The participant grants the city the right to use the image without separate compensation. The photographer's name will be mentioned in connection with the use.
• By participating in the competition, you give the city the right to process, crop, and use your image without limitation for the city's communication and marketing purposes.
• The city will not share the images with third parties.

The personal data of the participants in the competition will be used by the City of Riihimäki. privacy policies in accordance with.

The personal data collected from participants (name and contact details) will be used for the implementation of the competition, such as contacting participants, selecting winners and communicating about the use of images. The data will not be disclosed to third parties.

All images submitted to the competition and the names of their photographers will be saved for the communication and marketing use of the City of Riihimäki. The City may use the images in its communication and marketing without separate compensation. The name of the photographer may be published in connection with the images, unless the participant states otherwise.
