Riihimäki's centralized registry office serves as the city's official business address.

City Archives

The city's central archive stores the documents of the city's operating units that are kept permanently and for a long time (more than 10 years), as well as the archives of the corresponding boards, agencies, commissions, etc. that have ceased operations. Documents older than 10 years of operating units will be transferred to the city's central archive.

The documents of the city's central archive are mainly public, with the exception of exceptions stipulated by law. All municipal residents have access to the archive. However, the original documents are not loaned out, but they can be consulted at the city's office (Matkakeskus 5th floor, Eteläinen Asemakatu 2, hallinto ja konserni tomiila). If necessary, you can also get certified copies of them, which are paid for.

Orders for certificates, copies and settlement can be made by letter, electronically, by phone or in person on site. For larger orders, you should call the archive in advance and tell them what information you need. The delivery time varies depending on the scope of the request, the work situation and the accuracy of the basic information.

The fees charged for providing standard information from a minutes extract, copy or other printout are as follows:

• from the first page €4,00
• €2,50 for each subsequent page
• €0,50 for each attached page
• however, a maximum of €5,00 for the attachments

A fixed basic fee is charged for providing information that requires special measures, for a document, copy or other printout, which is scaled according to the difficulty of the information search as follows:

• for normal information search (working time less than 2 hours) €30
• if the information search takes more than two hours, €15 will be charged for the following hours

If the information search is requested as urgent, the staggered basic fee can be doubled.

When sending large quantities of documents and copies by post, actual postage costs will be charged in addition.
