For a summer job applicant

  • Summer job search on the Kuntarekry.fi website 1–29.2.2024 February XNUMX

In February, you will find links to each summer job search on this page. You can apply for several positions, but be selected for only one summer job (or use one summer job support) during one summer.

How do I apply for a summer job?

Log in to Kuntarekry.fi as a user and fill out the form carefully in your own words. It is possible to get help with the application from employment services, phone 040 645 3206

The questions on the application form are answered both by writing and by choosing from the given options. Answering some questions is mandatory. There is no need to add attachments to the application.

What if I have no previous work experience?

The most important thing is to tell about yourself and your skills so that the employer gets an idea of what kind of employee you are. You don't have to be an expert in the field, and it doesn't hurt if you've never done a similar job. It is enough if you are committed and motivated to work and excited to learn!

    Shall I be interviewed?

Interviews will be held between March 11.3 and March 28.3.2024, XNUMX. Interviews can be arranged traditionally face-to-face, but also on the phone, as a Teams or group interview. Not all summer jobs organize interviews, but you can also be selected for the position based on an application.

If the advertisement for the summer job you applied for mentions "interviews", monitor your email and answer calls, especially during March, so that a possible interview invitation will surely reach you. Please note that only some of the applicants will be interviewed and those invited to the interview will be selected based on the applications.

  • The duration of summer jobs is usually 4 weeks, so not quite a full month. The exception is the summer work period of park services aimed at abei, which lasts about 3 months.

Can I take a couple of days off from summer work?

As a summer employee, you commit to work for the entire four weeks, i.e. about 20 working days. Shorter periods or making lessons in advance/afterwards is not possible. Exceptions are, for example, school entrance exam days, participation in which must be agreed with the supervisor well in advance.

Can I do summer work during school if the teacher gives permission?

At the same time as the summer job, it is not possible to complete studies or go to school, and it is not possible to arrange an apprenticeship for the summer worker with the city for the duration of the summer job.

How long does a working day last?

Daily working hours vary slightly depending on the job. The most usual work is about 6 hours 30 min a day. Meal breaks are determined by the practices of the work unit, the working hours and the collective agreement to be observed, and they will be explained in more detail on the first day of work.

  • Who chooses the summer employees?

The supervisors of the work units make selection decisions based on applications and/or interviews. The applicant can only get one summer job or summer job support during the summer.

How do I know if I have been selected as a summer employee?

Information about who has been selected as summer employees will be sent to all those who applied for the position between April and May. In the attachment of the e-mail, you can find the names of all the selected ones. If your name is not on the list, you have not been selected for that position.

What do I need to do if I am selected?

In the e-mail sent to all applicants, the selected ones are given instructions on how to accept the position. If the person selected for the job does not accept the position within the deadline, a summer employee will be called as a substitute.

In March, April and May, it is important that you check your e-mails, phone calls and text messages at least every other day, so that you do not miss an invitation to an interview or a notice of selection. It's also worth checking that the phone number you entered on the Kuntarekry.fi website is spelled correctly and that your email address can reach you even in the summer. If the person selected as a summer employee cannot be contacted within the given time, the job will be given to the alternate.

  • How much do you get paid for a summer job?

The full-time salary of all summer employees is 1230 euros per month. Since summer jobs are part-time (85% of full-time work, i.e. about 6,5h/day), the salary for four weeks is about 940 euros and for a full month about 1045 euros.

The amount of the monthly salary varies slightly in different months, because the months are of different lengths. Those who have turned 17 are charged a statutory pension payment from their salary.

When will I receive the salary in my account?

Your payday is the last business day of the month. If your employment spans two months, you will receive your salary in two parts, on the last weekdays of both months.

Do I have to have a tax card even though I don't pay tax?

All summer employees must provide a tax card, otherwise 60 percent of the salary will be taxed.

The tax card will be delivered to Sarastia (payer of the city's wages) before the work starts in the online customer service. The service is identified with bank credentials or a mobile certificate.

You can also send the tax card in paper form to the address: Sarastia Oy, Hämeenkatu 3, 05800 Hyvinkää.

Where can I get a tax card?

The tax card can be ordered from the Tax Administration OmaVero online service.
