Employer services

The city's employment grant consists of three forms of support, the total duration of which can be 12 months.

1) recruitment grant for employers to hire an unemployed person (max 12 months)
2) coaching employment with the city of Riihimäki (max 12 months)
3) summer job subsidy for employers (max 1 month/year)

• intended to support the employment of unemployed job seekers or temporarily laid-off job seekers from Riihimäki
• can be granted for a maximum of 12 months/person (excluding summer employment subsidy of 1 month)
• Combination is possible (e.g. coaching employment for 6 months + recruitment allowance for 6 months)
• can be granted to a person whose employment has not been supported by the city's employment grant in the past 12 months
• discretionary and may be granted within the budget

The City of Riihimäki offers financial support for summer employment of young people from Riihimäki aged 15-19. Summer work support can be paid to employers for summer employment of young people from Riihimäki between 1.5 May and 31 August. Employers in Hausjärvi, Loppi and Janakkala can also receive summer work support for summer employment of young people from Riihimäki.

The City of Riihimäki may grant discretionary recruitment funds to companies and associations operating in the South Häme employment area to support the employment of unemployed or temporarily laid-off job seekers from Riihimäki. Recruitment Funds are granted in the order in which applications are received, within the budget allocations, in accordance with the terms of the employment supplement.

The city's employment services meet dozens of experts from Riihimäki representing various fields every year.

The employer and job coach collaborate to find motivated professionals for the job. The employer can be supported in, for example, finding a professional who meets the application profile, using different forms of support, providing job orientation, or anticipating potential challenges.

A job coach adds value to the selection process by searching for candidates, assessing their suitability and preparing for interviews. The results of the preparation are reviewed together with the employer, and based on the information gathered, the employer selects the most potential candidates for interviews. A job coach works with both the job seeker and the employer in the employment coaching process, enabling and clarifying options, while both parties are responsible for the choices and decisions themselves.

The job coach has the opportunity to support the employer also in other matters of the employment relationship, for example in drawing up an employment contract, training planning and using different forms of support. The job coach has the opportunity to respond flexibly to the changing needs of working life, for example by participating in customer acquisition and coordination of targeted recruitment trainings.

Employment services help employers by arranging work trial relationships with job seekers and employment authorities (EHTA services). A work trial is one opportunity to start a successful working life partnership.

A work trial is not an employment relationship. No salary is paid during the period, and it does not accrue annual leave or pension. The organizer of the work trial is responsible for the guidance and supervision of the person participating in the work trial throughout the work trial. The person participating in the work trial is not covered by the employer's occupational health care or insurance; the South Häme employment region is responsible for insurance.

In a work trial, a person can find out their career choice and career options or their possibilities to return to the labor market or apply for a new field. In addition to labor market support, Kela pays nine euros in compensation for the work trial day.

Employment services know of several job seekers from Riihimäki who are interested in work trials in various fields. A job coach can facilitate and speed up the creation of work trial agreements and meeting the right people. If necessary, the job coach has the opportunity to support both the employer and the work trial candidate during the work trial period.

A work trial can be a gateway to a long-term and successful employment relationship.
