The City of Riihimäki has implemented the Museinno project with its partners. The project examined the possibilities for locating museums in Riihimäki and new forms of cooperation in the station blocks in the area of Veturitallie, Voimala and the future campus of Häme University of Applied Sciences. It is a preliminary project for the development of the Riihimäki station blocks.

The aim of the Museinno project was to create a vision of a cooperation model and operating environment that combines the functions of the museum sector, universities and the business sector. The aim was to examine the possibilities of locating museums in Riihimäki and to investigate how museum activities could be part of the Locomotive Depots and Riihimäki city centre activities.

"Riihimäki has a unique opportunity to build a city center where museums, learning and new innovations meet in the station blocks. The Museinno project shows the potential of Veturitalli. At the beginning of June, we launched a thorough technical and economic survey of the area's building stock together with Häme University of Applied Sciences. Our goal is to ensure the prerequisites for the development of the area during the autumn and move from plans to implementation," says Anna-Riitta Kujala, Director of Vitality.

At the beginning of the project, stakeholders were interviewed and domestic and international benchmarks were studied. In the next stage, the potential potential of the museum cluster in the Riihimäki station blocks was conceptualized through scenario work. From the scenarios produced, draft spatial plans were created, focusing on exploring the possibilities of the Locomotive Garages. The project produced sketch-like visualizations of the atmosphere and possibilities of the Locomotive Garages. The materials produced in the project will be used to support further planning. A final report has been published on the project.

The project was implemented by the City of Riihimäki in cooperation with the Museum of Technology, the Finnish Wildlife and Hunting Museum, Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) and Riihimäen Tilat ja Kehitys Oy. The project has been granted funding from the Häme Regional Council for Supporting Sustainable Growth and Vitality (AKKE). The project was implemented by the design agency Pentagon Design with its subcontractors.
