You still have time to visit Helen's Salon – the exhibition ends at Riemu Museums on Easter Sunday, April 5th.
The Riihimäki Art Museum's exhibition at Helenen Salongi – Works by Helene Schjerfbeck will end on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026. The new exhibition Helene Schjerfbeck and Silence will open on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
The room dedicated to the works of Helene Schjerfbeck (1862–1946), Helenen Salongi, displays works by Schjerfbeck from the Tatjana and Pentti Wähäjärvi collection of the Riihimäki Art Museum. The exhibition includes oil paintings and works on paper, especially Schjerfbeck's reproductions of her earlier paintings, such as Silk Shoe and Costume Portrait, and a new interpretation of a work by the French artist Constantin Guys. There are twelve works in total on display. The exhibition space is complemented by, among other things, a video created using artificial intelligence, vases designed by Gerda Thesleff (1871–1939), and furniture.
The works in the evening's mini-exhibition belong to the most central themes of Schjerfbeck's production, such as portraits. They are mainly set in the early 1900th century. The works form a stylistic arc, from works that subtly reproduce the subject to a more modernist style of painting.
The museum is open Tue–Sun 11 am–17 pm at Temppelikatu 8.
