The LAB University of Applied Sciences' Parru project surveys the views and interest of local residents in the state of the built cultural environment in their area. Buildings and areas of cultural and historical significance reflect local history and the characteristics of construction from different eras. These may include, for example, schools, observation huts, offices, various residential buildings, manors, churches, rectories and early sites of industrial construction.
The built cultural environment often consists of landscape, roads, buildings and courtyards – a whole, in which each part has its own meaning. A site of cultural and historical interest is not always old: architecture from the 1970s–80s or younger buildings can also be important, if they are representative of their era or exceptional in some way.
We want to hear your views. The survey is intended for all residents of Riihimäki. What places and buildings are meaningful to you? What does the state of the cultural environment in your home region look like?
Please respond to the survey by April 30, 2026 at this link (docs.google.com).
