New at the International Sportsmen's Fair: the National Defence Areena

Erämessut, the International Sportsmen's Fair, organizes the National Defence Areena, in cooperation with the city of Riihimäki and Riihimäki Tilat ja Kehitys Oy as a new part of the fair. At the National Defence Areena, current issues of national defense are discussed and key note speeches are also heard. The National Defense Arena is related to the Define projects of the city of Riihimäki and Riihimäki Tilat ja Kehitys Oy.

The National Defense Arena will be held on the first day of the International Sportsmen's Fair, Friday, June 7, 2024, from 13 p.m. to 16 p.m. The event includes speeches and panel discussions. The content includes national defense innovations, NATO and cyber security. A more detailed program will be published on the International Sportsmen's Fair's website in the spring.

"The International Sportsmen's Fair has had close cooperation with the Defense Forces since the beginning of its 50-year history. The content of the National Defense Arena is guaranteed to be of interest to the visitors of the Fair," says fair director Ninni Manninen.

On the initiative of the city of Riihimäki, the Define project has been launched. Define comes from the words Defense Finland Innovation Network and the purpose of the project is to create a national defense industry innovation network. Ilkka Korkiamäki works in the Define project as the city's advisor and he compiles the content of the National Defense Arena. Korkiamäki has had a long career with the Defense Forces.
