The city of Riihimäki has completed the renovation of two parks. Both Savottapuisto and Marjapuisto are now open for active use.

Savottapuisto – local exercise in the forest

Savottapuisto, located in the Parooninmäki district, has been renovated into a versatile local sports venue. The park has been built with a game arena, which residents have requested, and a combination stand suitable for circular play. The play equipment is themed around forest animals, and the park includes a squatting carousel and outdoor fitness equipment.
The renovation has also improved the lighting in the park, and the path along the ridge has been connected to Savottatie with a new chip-surfaced path.

Berry park – play with a natural berry theme

The Berry Park, located in the Lemmenmäki district of Kirjaus, has been given a new look with the theme of Finnish wild berries. The park now features blueberry bouncy balls, a sea buckthorn cup carousel, a strawberry spring swing and a berry kiosk. A road has been added to the edge of the sandbox, offering fun activities for young drivers. The Berry Park also has outdoor fitness equipment.

Playgrounds as learning environments

Both parks also function as learning environments. They support children's physical skill development and social interaction, but also provide thematic information.

On the board in Savottapuisto you can read what savotta means and learn about the history of logging. In Marjapuisto you can study real berry plants and identify different berries from the panels in the berry kiosk.

Landscaping of Tellervonpolku

In connection with the renovation of Marjapuisto, the Tellervonpolku green area was landscaped as a green place to relax. The playground had previously been removed from the area in accordance with the Riihimäki Playground Program 2022-2030. The green area now features a yard swing, flowering shrubs, a meadow mound and trees.
