The renovated Kantakatu playground has been opened for use today, October 4, 2024 after the renovation.

In the renovation, the playground was moved to the front of the park and the playground equipment and lighting were renewed. The rope slide that has become popular in Hirsimäenpuisto can now also be found at the Kantakatu playground.

The cultural history of the area and the era of zoning have been taken into account in the selection of equipment and plantings in the park. The Kantakatu playground is located in the regionally important cultural environment of Petsamo and Juppala small house areas. The Juppala area was rezoned in 1947 to meet the demand for detached house plots during the reconstruction period.
