Riihimäki's technical industry space center offers the premises of the Finnish glass museum's cafe for rent. The cafe is located in a museum building designed by Tapio Wirkkala that opened in 1981.

50 visitors visit the Finnish Glass Museum every year. In addition to exhibitions, the museum organizes popular events throughout the year. Next door to the museum is the Finnish Hunting Museum, which is visited annually by around 000 visitors.

The cafe's opening hours mainly follow the museum's opening hours

The Finnish Museum of Glass is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00:17.00 a.m. to 1.5:30.9 p.m. The museum is closed on Mondays and throughout January. During the high season (May 16.00-September XNUMX), the cafe's opening hours follow at least the museum's opening hours. Outside of the high season, the cafe may be closed on weekends and close at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. on other days. The cafe is a popular workplace lunch cafe. It is possible to organize private events, especially outside of the high season. Opening hours must always be negotiated with the landlord.

The area of ​​the cafe is about 200 square meters, including the kitchen, serving, storage and social spaces. The kitchen was renovated in 2016. There is barrier-free access to the cafe. There are about 80 customer seats in the cafe and 40 on the summer terrace.

The city is responsible for the existing cafe and kitchen furniture and machines. You can get separate descriptions of these upon request.

The cafe's furniture is designed by Tapio Wirkkala. Existing furniture must be used in cafe operations. It is not possible to change the restaurant milieu.

The tenant is responsible for the necessary dishes, food preparation tools and machines and equipment, the cash register system, cleanliness, electricity consumption, water and waste water and waste management consumption fees, and the authorities necessary to run the business, etc. about permits. Both parties are responsible for insuring their own property.

The rental period starts on February 1, 2025 at the latest or at a separately agreed time, from which the bidder is asked to make a proposal.

Agreement for a break during the renovation of the glass museum

The renovation of the glass museum is tentatively planned for 2027. The date will be specified during 2025. The agreement for renting the cafe is concluded for a fixed period until December 31, 2026. The contract is on hold during the renovation. We will negotiate with the tenant by the end of 2026 about extending the lease after the renovation as valid until further notice.

The tenant must leave a two-month rent guarantee with the city in connection with the lease agreement.

Information to be included in the offer

In the offer, we ask you to state the monthly rent without value added tax (value added tax is added to the rent). The minimum rent for the cafe is 1600 euros per month + VAT.

We also ask you to indicate what services and products the entrepreneur offers, as well as a brief description of the business and operating concept being practiced, as well as the services offered at the museum's special events.

We require previous cafe/restaurant entrepreneurial experience.

The offer must be accompanied by a certificate of paid taxes and social security contributions, as well as a certificate from the insurance company on the payment of statutory insurance contributions. The certificates must not be older than two months from the date of submission of the offer. The offer must include the contact information of the person submitting the offer, including their phone number.

The offer comparison and selection is made on the basis of the rent, service and products presented in the offer, as well as the business and operational concept.

The city reserves the right to freely accept or reject the offers made.
