In Tammela, repeated samples from the Kuivajärvi swimming beach in Saari National Park still showed elevated bacterial concentrations

Swimming at the Kuivajärvi beach in Saari National Park should still be avoided, as the water may contain disease-causing microbes. The number of intestinal bacteria has decreased in a repeat sample taken on July 15, but the concentrations are still higher than usual. No reason has been found for the increase in bacterial concentrations.

The next sample will be taken from the beach on Monday, July 20. Once the sample results are available, a reassessment will be made as to whether swimming at the beach can continue. The results of the retest will be posted on the beach notice board once they are available.

On July 15, the South Häme Environmental Health Department issued a recommendation to avoid swimming at the Kuivajärvi beach because a systematic bathing water sample taken on Monday, July 13, detected an amount of intestinal enterococcus bacteria exceeding the action limit and an abnormally high number of e.coli bacteria.
