There is plenty to do in Riihimäki during the school winter holiday week from 17 to 23 February 2025. Youth and sports services, the library and museums offer a variety of activities for those spending their winter holidays.

At the beginning of the winter holidays, Youth Services will organize a Valentine's Day disco at the Monar Youth Center on Friday, February 14th, separately for primary and secondary school students, and during the winter holiday week, craft and handicraft workshops for the whole family.

The Sports Services ice rink has added public skating hours for the winter holiday week. On Saturday, February 15, a children's Peuhapäivä will be held from 9 to 11.30 am at the Sports Hall.

The library is organizing an open storytime for young children on Wednesday, February 19. On Thursday, February 20, from 10 am to 12 pm, a doctor of stuffed animals will be on duty in the library's Story Room, and you can bring your own stuffed animal to his reception.

The Riemu Museums, the Finnish Glass Museum and the Finnish Hunting Museum offer independent activities for children throughout the winter holiday week.

During the holiday week, only lines 1, 2, 4, 10, 11 and 12, as well as the R-kyyti service, will operate in local transport.

250 free tickets will be distributed in advance for the disco for primary school children. Tickets can be picked up from Monari from Tuesday 11th to Thursday 13.2th February from 14 pm to 20 pm. If any tickets are left at the door, we will announce it on Instagram @nuorisopavelutriihimaki and on Facebook Nuorisopavelut Riihimäki.

Art Factory at Monari

Tuesday, February 18th, from 12 to 15 pm, craft and handicraft workshops for the whole family. Children under school age must be accompanied by a guardian. Youth Centre Monari is located at Uudenmaankatu 1.

Super day at Monari

On Thursday 20 February, there will be an open youth centre shift, come and hang out, play games, see friends and youth workers. The Monari Youth Centre is located at Uudenmaankatu 1.

3rd graders-5th graders 11 a.m.–15 p.m. Program includes a movie and snacks.

6th graders-20-year-olds from 16 p.m. to 23 p.m. The program includes a movie, snacks, school physical education, and a physical education counselor on site from 16 p.m. to 18 p.m.

Trip to Ideapark

Trip to Lempäälä Ideapark on Wednesday 19 February in collaboration with Hausjärvi Youth Services. Bus transport is free, activities on site are at your own expense. Under 13 years of age accompanied by a guardian or adult. FULL! You can inquire about cancellations by calling 0403304715.

Sports services

Peuhapäivä at Urheilutalo on Saturday, February 15th from 9 am to 11.30 am.

Peuhapäivät are free family sports events where the whole family can move and play together on the stunt tracks and game arenas built in the hall. Regarding the Peuhapäivät schedule, we hope that the youngest members of the family will be given space at the beginning of the event and the older ones will be able to get going towards the end. Urheilutalo is located at Pohjolankatu 6.

Library

The library will have an open storytime for young children on Wednesday, February 19th at 10 am, where in addition to listening to a story, you can also do crafts.

On Thursday, February 20th, from 10 am to 12 pm, a doctor of stuffed animals will be on duty in the library's Fairy Tale Room, and you can bring your own teddy bear or stuffed animal to his appointment.

Throughout the week, surprise book bags will be available for loan in the library, there will be coloring pages in the Fairy Tale Room, and snowboarders will be hidden in the section, and finding them will win a small prize.

The Finnish Glass Museum

The Finnish Glass Museum will be holding color baths on Thursday, February 20th for babies from 9.00 to 9.45 am and for toddlers from 1–2 am (11.00-11.45 years old). The price of the color bath for a child-adult pair is 20 euros. Riemu museums

On Saturday, February 22nd at 14.00 pm, Hakasirkus clowns Töttöröö and Nopsa Pyrährys invite everyone to an event for the whole family, where the Story of a Chair exhibition will be viewed playfully from the clowns' perspective.
