Winter holiday activities in Riihimäki 16–22 February 2026

There is plenty to do in Riihimäki during the school winter holiday week from 16 to 22 February 2026. Youth and sports services, the library and museums offer a variety of activities for those spending their winter holidays.

At the beginning of the winter holidays, Youth Services will organize a Valentine's Day disco at the Monari Youth Center on Friday, February 13, 2026, separately for lower and upper grade students. During the winter holiday week, Youth Services will also organize, among other things, a craft and handicraft workshop for the whole family, a trip to Lempäälä shopping center Ideapark, and a skiing trip to Messilä.

Public skating hours have been added to the Sports Services ice rink during the winter holiday week. The Wibit floating obstacle course will be in the swimming pool during the winter holiday week for the enjoyment of children and young people.

The library will celebrate Fairy Tale Day at the beginning of the winter break on Saturday, February 14. During the winter break week, you can independently search for a lost penguin in the children's section and win a small prize.

Art Factory at Monari on Tuesday, February 17th

Tuesday, February 17th, 12–15 p.m., craft and handicraft workshops for the whole family. Children under school age must be accompanied by a guardian. Free of charge.

Trip to Ideapark on Tuesday, February 17th

Trip to Lempäälä Ideapark on Tuesday 17th February in cooperation with the municipalities of Hausjärvi and Loppi. Bus transport is free, activities on site are at your own expense. Children under 13 must be accompanied by a guardian or adult.

The night club can accommodate 25 participants. Places will be filled in the order of registration. The event is intended for young people from Riihimäki aged 6 to 17. Ski trip to Messilä on Thursday, February 19th

Winter holiday skiing trip to Messilä for 6th–9th graders on Thursday, February 19. Free transportation and lift tickets. Bring your own equipment or rent equipment at your own expense. Can accommodate 45 young people. The trip is full!

Wibit course in the swimming pool from Monday 16th February to Sunday 22nd February. On the Wibit course you can challenge your balance and agility in various crossings and slides! Non-swimmers are only allowed on the course with a life jacket and an adult.

Swimming lanes 1–3 are reserved for the Wibit course during the winter holiday week.

Winter break kick-off: Fairy Tale Day at the library on Saturday, February 14, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. The program includes crafts, Tähkäpää's braiding workshop, a sing-along, Milla Magia's magic land robbery, Aladdin's treasure hunt and Princess's fairy tale lesson. Free admission.

The Finnish Glass Museum

Admission to the Finnish Glass Museum is free for those under 18. On Tuesday, February 17, the Finnish Glass Museum will have a guided tour of the main exhibition at 13 p.m., lasting approximately 35 minutes. The tour will introduce you to the museum's various objects, the history, uses and production of glass. On Wednesday, February 18, at 13 p.m., a guided tour of the changing exhibitions will be held. The tour will last 35 minutes and will focus on color and light through glass art. Both tours are suitable for all ages, especially primary school children.

In addition, decorations for making your own glass lantern will be available in the museum's lecture hall from 17 to 22 February. It is a good idea to bring a suitable glass jar for the lantern, for example a glass jar or a glass preserving jar.

Riemu museums

Riemu Museums have free admission for those under 18. On Wednesday, February 18, from 15–17 p.m., a guided Winter Flower Makers workshop for children will be held. The workshop will involve making flowery winter flower makers from natural branches. The finished flower maker can be placed in a vase, on a balcony or on a covered terrace. Materials are available as long as supplies last. The instructors are Sari Kalliokoski from Kukkakauppa Kielo and Ketunleivästä and Fineas Dylan, a student in cultural production.
