Eva Repo, daughter of art dealer Pentti Wähäjärvi, will talk about the creation and stages of the Wähäjärvi collection at Riemu Museums on September 5th.

An event will be held at Riemu Museums (Temppelikatu 8) on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 14 p.m., with Eva Repo, daughter of art dealer and collector Pentti Wähäjärvi, as a guest. In this rare public event, Repo will talk about her father's career as an art dealer and collector, as well as the creation, stages and journey of the significant Wähäjärvi collection to Riihimäki for all art lovers to see. After the presentation, Repo will be happy to answer questions from the audience. The event is organized in cooperation with the Riihimäki Society.

Pentti Wähäjärvi made the establishment of the Riihimäki Art Museum possible by donating his extensive art collection to the city of Riihimäki in 1993, together with his wife Tatjana Wähäjärvi. The birth of the Riihimäki Art Museum is based on the Wähäjärvi family's significant life's work and the art collection they donated. One of the most important tasks of the art museum is to preserve, research and bring this historically significant collection to the public.

The Wähäjärvi collection offers a diverse overview of Finnish art, especially from the first half of the 1900th century. Its key artists include Helene Schjerfbeck, Ellen Thesleff, Tyko Sallinen, Jalmari Ruokokoski, Ester Helenius, Eero Nelimarkka, Marcus Collin and Elga Sesemann. The collection also includes 1800th-century Russian icons and Asian antiques.
