Fun things for schoolchildren to do during the autumn holiday week

The autumn holidays will be celebrated from 13 to 19 October 2025 (week 42). The City of Riihimäki will organize fun activities for schoolchildren during the holiday week.

Youth Services will organize a craft and handicraft workshop for the whole family on Tuesday, October 14th at the Art Factory Youth Center Monari from 12:00 to 15:00 and a Walk in graffiti workshop on Thursday, October 16th from 15:00 to 18:00.

During the autumn holiday week, you can come to the library to read and borrow books or just relax. Coloring pictures can also be found in the children's and youth department's fairy tale room. Schoolchildren are also welcome to the free public skating sessions at the sports center. The swimming pool has a Wibit trick track from Tuesday to Sunday.

The Riemu Museum's exhibitions are open to children under the age of 18 for free all year round. The Riemu Museums lobby has board games and puzzles for children, as well as self-guided arts and crafts workshops in Holvi during the museum's opening hours from Tuesday to Sunday, 11 am to 17 pm.

Exceptions for R traffic during the fall holiday week

There are exceptions to R-trafiktion during the autumn holiday week. Lines 3, 5, 7, 8 and 9, which only run on school days, will not run. Lines 1, 2, 4 and 10 and service lines 11 and 12 will run normally. R-kiyti will also run normally. Repairs will be carried out at the D stop of the railway station during the autumn holiday week, which is why line 1 will depart from stop A in the direction of Pohjankorvi.

Youth services program

On Tuesday, October 14th, from 12:00 to 15:00, there will be craft and handicraft workshops for the whole family at Taidetehdas Monar (Uudenmaankatu 1). There will also be circus acts. Children under school age can participate accompanied by a guardian.

On Thursday, October 16th, from 15–6 p.m., there will be a walk-in graffiti workshop. The workshop is intended for 18th graders and older. Come and try it out!

The age limit for open shifts at youth centers has been expanded from 6th graders to 20-year-olds during the autumn holiday week. Clubs are not held during the autumn holiday. During the autumn holiday, youth centers cook, play games, do crafts and watch movies. The activities are free of charge.
