The great pepper competition has ended

16.12.2021 Releases Welfare and health Communication and marketing Participation

In this competition work, we are in the Riihimäki Art Museum, where an exhibition presenting the familiar R from the emblem of the city of Riihimäki is going on.

The Riihimäki Great pepper competition was very small this year. Only two pepper works participated in the competition, both of which will win a gift card prize.

Both pepper works are wonderful, insightful and funny. The second competition work was made by ten-year-old Aava and the work is in the Riihimäki Art Museum, where there is an exhibition showing the letter R known from the emblem of the city of Riihimäki.

The second competition entry shows a gingerbread castle, which is shaped like an R.

The shape of the R-castle was designed by ten-year-old Rasmus, and the defense of the castle was designed by six-year-old Peetu. The brothers' mother also participated in the implementation of the Pepper Castle.

R-castle is also connected with an amazing historical narrative from the authors:

"Not many people know that in the time when dragons and knights ruled the world, there was a great castle on Riihimäki. The castle was called: Riksu, and it was especially famous because of its shape, the letter R. People came to see the castle after day trips by flying or riding. Riksu's enemies often tried to capture the castle, but time and time again the castle's defenses held, and the enemies turned back. The story does not tell what happened to Riksu Castle in the end, because the ancient stories of dragons and knights have already been forgotten. Perhaps even today there is still a small piece of magic left from the castle, which today's rickshaw pullers can experience when they unknowingly happen upon the castle's edge."

A long time ago Riihimäki was home to Riksu castle.
The tower of the Riksu castle is decorative and defenders stand in front of it.
Dear Riksu or rich raksu anyway?
