The military oath and military insurance ceremony for those who began their service in the Armored Brigade in July 2025 will be held in Riihimäki on Thursday, August 14, 2025. The event will be attended by recruits from the Jaeger Artillery Regiment and the Electronic Warfare Center.

The event is open to the public.

Relatives of conscripts and all interested parties are warmly welcome to attend the event. The event offers the residents of Riihimäki a great opportunity to observe the important anniversary of conscripts and learn about the traditions and activities of the Defence Forces.

The event day begins at 14.00:14.30 p.m. with a flag raising ceremony at Riihimäki Central Field. This is followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the Riihimäki Heroes' Tomb at 15.00:16.00 p.m. The Defence Forces' equipment exhibition opens at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. at the Riihimäki Sports Hall. The Defence Forces' band will perform in connection with the equipment exhibition at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.

At the ceremony, recruits take their military oath or make their military declaration, which concludes their six-week rookie period. Each recruit can choose, according to their convictions, whether to take the traditional military oath or make the military declaration, in which the promise is made in the name of honor and conscience.

The military oath will be taken by Colonel Tero Koljonen, Deputy Commander of the Armoured Brigade. The parade troops will be commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Herkko Hannula, Commander of the Jaeger Artillery Regiment. The march past will be taken by Colonel Koljonen together with the presiding officer of the oath, Antti Pennanen, head coach of the Finnish men's national ice hockey team. The field service will be conducted by military chaplain Pasi Hakkarainen.

Pohjolankatu will be closed for the event.

The event will cause some changes to traffic arrangements: Pohjolankatu will be closed for the duration of the event, and the parking areas along it will be out of use. However, driving to the plots will be allowed for residents of the area in principle. We urge city residents to take this into account when moving around the area on Thursday.
