The forested Savottapuisto, located in the Parooninmäki district, is being renewed. After the exit of the Korttionmäki community sports center, Savottapuisto, located along Mottitie, will be developed as a community sports center. In addition, the playground equipment will be renewed.

“In a resident survey conducted in the fall of 2023, people especially wanted a games arena in Savottapuisto. This wish will be fulfilled in place of the current empty playground. A combination stand that enables circular play meets the wish for rope climbing and sliding. The furniture will be themed around forest animals and the lighting in the park will be improved,” says city gardener Päivi Sundman.

The park plan has been made in the urban environment planning service area. The renovation of Savottapuisto is part of the implementation of this year's municipal technology investment program.

A state subsidy for the construction of sports facilities has been applied for in Savottapuisto's neighborhood sports facility. The extent of the implementation of the local sports center will be assessed after the grant decision, when the construction schedule will also be specified. The park plan is available for viewing on the city's website 18.1.-1.2.2024.

In the last two years, the city of Riihimäki has renovated seven playgrounds, built two new parks and renewed the central parks Itsenäisyydenpuisto and Lasinpuhaltaja park. Investing in parks is part of realizing the goal of the city of Riihimäki's strategy, the city of an irresistible quarter.

Riihimäki has about 40 different playgrounds in different parts of the city. On average, the playground is fundamentally improved every 15 years. The city's playground program 2022–2030 gives indications of when any local playground is due for renovation. The goal is to fundamentally improve about 2-3 playgrounds per year.
