A high number of fecal-derived bacteria has been detected in the water at the Kuivajärvi beach in Saari People's Park in Tammela

A systematic bathing water sample taken from the Kuivajärvi beach on Monday, July 13, has detected an amount of intestinal enterococcus bacteria exceeding the action limit, and in addition, an unusually high amount of e.coli bacteria was detected.

The water may contain disease-causing microbes, so swimming at the Kuivajärvi beach should be avoided. There is currently no clear reason why the bacterial concentrations have increased.

The repeat sample was taken on Wednesday, July 15. Once the results of the repeat sample are complete, it will be reassessed whether swimming at the beach can continue. The results of the repeat sample will be displayed on the beach notice board once they are complete.
