The Riutta nature trail has been renovated – new signposts invite you to explore the area's nature.
The Riutta Nature Trail has been renovated with new signposts that guide the walker to the diverse nature of the area. The approximately 2,5-kilometre route starts next to the Riutta Outdoor Recreation Centre (Kormuntie 258). There are a total of nine signs along the route, which tell about the area's different habitat types, bird and plant species, and geological history.
Some of the topics on the new signs can be explored in a video adventure that opens via QR codes, where Iita-Ilves and Dr. Riutta Tomera explore Riutta's nature.
"The nature trail runs through various forest habitat types. The route has many ups and downs, typical of a ridge landscape," says the city's environmental protection planner, Hanna Pajari.
Traces left by the last ice age are clearly visible on the nature trail, which are also described on the guide signs.
“Along the path you can see, for example, a slough, the bottom of an ancient shore, and a swamp that continues all the way to the border of Loppi.”
A new route for children
In connection with the renovation, a route for children, approximately one kilometer long, has also been created as part of the Riutta Nature Trail. The children's section of the nature trail can be identified by the green round Pikku-Ilves logo at the bottom of the signs.
The Little Ilves Trails bring the long Häme Ilves Trail into the world of children through tasks, stories and insights. They invite you to explore the local nature and its diversity in an easy, experiential and fun way.
Also suitable for school classes
The Riutta Nature Trail is suitable for a peaceful hike, an exploration trip with children, or a learning environment for a school class. New guide signs provide interesting information about the surrounding nature and encourage you to stop, observe, and marvel at natural phenomena.
"It's great that Riutta's renewed nature trail combines walking in nature, learning and insight. When you stop to do your tasks, even many busy adults can notice that their recovery improves," says coordinator Kirsi Roos from the Häme Recreation Area Association.
The Riutta nature trail is easy to follow, so you can set off on the route without any special preparations. You can also learn more about the nature trail and the content of the signs on the environmental protection website.
