Have you thought about how you could improve your interaction with someone with dementia? Have you encountered difficult situations? Riksula will organize a free training session on Tuesday, April 2, from 17 pm to 19 pm for everyone who encounters people with dementia in their volunteer work or in their everyday life. The training offers practical tips and new perspectives on challenging situations.
"The number of people suffering from memory disorders is increasing all the time, so it is important to increase information on the subject. The training is open to everyone, but we hope it will reach especially those who could imagine volunteering their time for someone with dementia. Many people with dementia need a friend by their side in addition to their relatives," describes activity director Reija Lumivuokko.
In addition to the volunteers, another important target group of the training is the relatives of people with dementia. The disease affects the entire family, and in order for everyday life to be as smooth as possible, it is important that loved ones know how to take the person with memory into account in interaction situations. The training is organized by Kanta-Hämeen Memorial Society, Carers and Relatives of the Riihimäki region, and Open welfare services of the city of Riihimäki.
