Riihimäki buys the area north of the Veturitalli area

The city of Riihimäki buys from the state-owned Senaat Asema-aluete Oy the area on the north side of the Veturitallie area, right next to the track, and two other smaller areas for 600 euros. The Energy Board decided on the matter at its meeting on Wednesday, November 000.

At the same time, the board approved the draft deed of sale and authorized the director of vitality to make minor changes to the deed of sale, if necessary, that do not undermine the city's position, before signing the deed of sale. The sale approved by the Board does not include the actual Locomotive Stables, known for their round shape, which will remain with VR.

"The area to be purchased is located in a strategically central area for the city. The city has wanted to acquire the area for years, even decades. This is a significant step forward in realizing Asemanseutu's vision," says Mika Herpiö, director of vitality.

The area planned for purchase includes a block area of ​​commercial and office buildings containing 13 floor square meters. After signing the deed of sale, the lease agreements of the current users will be transferred to the city.

"The site plan for the block of locomotive depots is out of date. Thanks to the deal, we will be able to drive the plan change of the Veturitallie quarter as the land owner."

The soil in the area to be purchased is known to be significantly polluted. According to the terms of the deal, soil pollution will be transferred to the city's responsibility with the ownership of the land. The obsolescence of the formula and the deterioration of the land have been taken into account in the purchase price.
