The City of Riihimäki, in collaboration with Hausjärvi-based craft entrepreneur Willamagia, produced knitting instructions for both winning works in the Riihimäki Knitting Competition. The knitting instructions are now available to everyone at riihimaki.fi/neulekilpailu.

“Willamagia serialized both knitting patterns in several sizes so that as many people as possible can knit a suitable version of these wonderful crafts,” says Iida Riihimäki from the City of Riihimäki.

Last winter, the city of Riihimäki organized a knitting competition, looking for knitwear that embodies the spirit, history and present of the city. The knitting competition began on October 14, 2024 and ended on February 28, 2025. The winner of the competition was Minun Riksukat, red knee-length wool socks designed and knitted by Satu Suominen. An honorable mention went to the Riihimäki sweater knitted by Leena Salminen.

The winning entries will be on display at Pieni Nappipuoti on Riihimäki Day, Thursday, September 11, from 11 a.m. to 17 p.m. The knitwear will be on display in the shop for two weeks.
