The city of Riihimäki will participate in the international Wilderness Fair at Riihimäki Sports Park from 5 to 7 June 2026. The themes of the Wilderness Fair are hunting, fishing, hiking and nature. In Riihimäki, nature is close by, and the city has easily accessible destinations for hikers, walkers and tourists.

The city's stand E330 presents Riihimäki as an irresistible city of fifteen minutes. The stand highlights, among other things, Riihimäki's natural attractions, glass city, diverse cultural offerings, robotics expertise, and living opportunities with good transport connections.

"The Wilderness Fair is the biggest event of the year in Riihimäki and brings thousands of visitors to the city from all over Finland. In 2024, there were almost 24,000 visitors. We want as many fair visitors as possible to get to know Riihimäki and its diverse offerings at the same time. This year, the new Wilderness Fair Goes to the Squares city festival will bring a fair atmosphere to the city center for the first time and at the same time bring a buzz to brick-and-mortar stores, restaurants and other services," says Mayor Jouni Eho.

The International Wilderness Fair is open Friday to Saturday from 10 am to 18 pm and Sunday from 10 am to 17 pm.

It's easy to get to the fair by free bus.

There is a free non-stop bus service from Riihimäki railway station to the fairgrounds throughout the event. The bus departs from the E-stop at the railway station. There is a stop at Jukka Jalonen Park in the city center.

The first non-stop bus leaves the train station half an hour before the fair opens and the last bus leaves the fairgrounds fifteen minutes after the fair closes.

Free transportation to the fairgrounds is also arranged from the parking areas at Ravirada and Tehtaankatu Messupuisto.

Erämessut Goes Aukiot brings programs to the city center

During the Wilderness Fair weekend, a new Wilderness Fair Goes Squares city festival will be held in the center of Riihimäki on Saturday, June 6. The event invites both fair visitors and Riihimäki residents to enjoy themselves in the center. The squares will be filled with programs, music, a market atmosphere, and campaigns from restaurants and brick-and-mortar stores.

Summer concerts at Riihimäki Summer Theatre

Summer concerts complement the Wilderness Fair weekend program at the Riihimäki Summer Theatre on Saturday, June 6. The children's concert will feature Päistikka from 13–14 p.m. The evening concert will feature Maria Ylipää, Marzi Nyman and Friends from 19–21 p.m.

Summer guides to help fair visitors

The young summer guides of the City of Riihimäki will help visitors to the Wilderness Fair during the event, including in parking areas, near the train station, and on the most popular routes.

Summer guides share information about Riihimäki's attractions, services and tourist destinations, as well as tips for cafes, shopping and entertainment. Maps, tourist brochures and other tourist material are available for tourists.

The employees and summer guides of the city's wilderness fair department can be recognized by their black Riksu shirts and hoodies.

Later in the summer, the guides will also help in other places popular with city residents and tourists, such as near shopping centers and museums. The summer guides' work ends on July 26.

"Summer guides help guests find the best places and services in Riihimäki. We want fair visitors to have a warm and approachable image of Riihimäki – a feeling that people here are happy to help," says Communications and Marketing Manager Mia Miettinen.
