Riihimäki was successful in the business survey - Business decision makers evaluated the city for the first time

Riihimäki ranked ninth in the category of municipalities with 20-000 inhabitants in the Image of Municipalities survey. In the annual survey carried out by Taloustukkimas, business decision-makers evaluate the operations of municipalities and cities and the economic companies they own using several different criteria. Riihimäki is participating in the study for the first time.
"We are happy that we did quite well in our control group," says Mika Herpiö, the city's vitality director and CEO of Riihimäki Tilat ja Kehitys Oy.
In the opinion of business decision-makers, Riihimäki's strengths are its traffic location and connections, the city's pro-business attitude, the accessibility of the city's personnel, and zoning that supports business activities. In these four matters, Riihimäki succeeded better than the national average.
"Riihimäki's location along the growth corridor is our competitive advantage, especially when you combine it with the compact structure of the city," says Herpiö.
The development of the center continues
The business decision-makers assessed the promotion of international competence and work-based immigration, the commercial services of the city center and the cooperation between companies and educational institutions as things to be developed. In addition, what could be developed was seen in the cooperation with the business company. However, at the same time, business decision-makers were very ready to recommend the city's economic company Riihimäki Tilat ja Kehity (RTOY). RTOY ranked as high as third in its series in terms of willingness to recommend.
"There was some contradiction in the results of the business company. Taking into account that the company works in Riihimäki with small resources, without city funding, the result is good", says Herpiö.
The city of Riihimäki and RTOY utilize the results of the studies in their operations.
"The development of the city center services that came up in the survey continues. In addition, communication aimed at business decision-makers is being developed," says Herpiö.
The city and RTOY jointly publish a newsletter for those interested in business activities and services as well as construction and planning. More information about the city's newsletters can be found on the website.
