The City of Riihimäki asked its residents from September 9 to October 20, 2025, about their experiences of the city's comfort, safety, services, and the smoothness of everyday life.
Our Riksu resident survey is carried out every other year. This time, 990 people responded to the survey online or on paper. Respondents came from all age groups, but the number of women among the respondents was as high as 77 percent.
Based on the results, residents' overall satisfaction with their hometown has increased slightly. The overall resident satisfaction rating rose from 3,3 two years ago to 3,4 (scale 1–5).
The statement that everyday life in Riihimäki is smooth received the highest marks in the survey. The statement that the opportunities to commute to work from Riihimäki are good received the second highest marks. The statement has received very positive ratings throughout the history of the survey.

Residents are also asked how important the issues in question are in the city. Safety is perceived as the most important thing. Safety is currently perceived to be at a good level (3,7) and efforts are hoped to continue to maintain it, which according to the free answers means, among other things, a regular police presence, prevention of substance abuse and drug problems, and safe routes with good lighting, the necessary pedestrian crossings and cycle paths.
Riihimäki is considered the safest city by young people under 20 years of age and the least safe by people over 70 years of age, but the differences between the respondent groups are small. According to the results, the city's residents' experience of safety is higher than ever before in the survey results. The survey has been conducted since 2015.
The city's residents' experiences of the comprehensiveness of sports services and the vitality of cultural services are higher than ever before (a question asked since 2017). Of all the themes in the survey, the greatest development is felt to have occurred in cultural services, with seniors being the most satisfied (score 3,7). Young people are not quite as satisfied with the city's cultural services (score 3,2) as older age groups.

The statement that the Riihimäki station area and city center are attractive places to stay received the lowest rating in the survey (2,5). The results improved slightly from two years ago, but there is still hope for significant improvements in the services in the city center and station area. Entrepreneurs are the most dissatisfied.
The results of the survey support the fact that the strategic goal of the city of Riihimäki to be an irresistible city of a quarter, where everyday life is functional and safe and the services are of high quality, has a cover. The target state has been improved compared to the results of the previous survey.
The city's long-term strategic goal is to achieve at least an average of 4.
