Junior athletes from Riihimäki can now apply for scholarships from the Jukka Jalonen Fund

The City of Riihimäki administers the Jukka Jalonen Scholarship Fund. The fund supports promising, goal-oriented and highly successful athletes under the age of 18 from Riihimäki.

Four scholarships of 300 euros will be awarded through the fund in 2025.

Junior athletes or their guardians can now apply for support for, for example, equipment purchases, competition trips, camps or coaching fees.

The application period ends on November 9, 2025 at 4:00 PM. The City Council will decide on the scholarship recipients. Scholarship recipients will be notified of the decision by email.

The fund was a reward from the City of Riihimäki to ice hockey coach Jalonen for the success of the national ice hockey team in 2022. The fund's initial capital was 10,000 euros when it was established in 2023.
