The Hännintie playground vote has been decided. Riihimäki residents were able to vote on three different furniture and play equipment options from October 31 to November 16, 2025. Option A, consisting of robinia wood equipment, emerged as the winner. The option received 76 votes. There were 95 votes in total. The winner of the competition received a clear majority of votes.

The votes were distributed as follows:

  • Proposal A: 76 votes
  • Proposal B: 13 votes
  • Proposal C: 6 votes.

The winning proposal will bring a versatile playground to Räätykänmäki, with activities for all ages. A double rope course and swings will be built in the area: a bird's nest swing, a board swing and a baby swing. The playground will also have a parkour course for climbing, crawling and balancing, as well as a tower climbing device with a slide.

For the youngest children, there will be a toddler track and a Dahlia playground, suitable for sand and water play. Physical activities will be supported by soccer goals and a chin-up center.

The children's parliament and students from Herajoki School are also involved in the planning.

Inclusion is one of the central themes of the Riihimäki city strategy. The vote offered the city's residents the opportunity to have a concrete impact on what kind of playground will be built in Räätykänmäki.

The vote was organized on the Riihimäki participation platform from October 31 to November 16, 2025. Adults were able to vote with strong identification, and children and young people in the 6th grade and older were able to vote with the Wilma ID.

Residents of the area, the Riihimäki Children's Parliament and students from Herajoki School have also previously participated in the planning of the Hännintie playground.
