The draft of Riihimäki's general plan 2050 has been completed. In accordance with the decision made by the Riihimäki City Council on 18.12.2023 December 15.1, the draft general plan will be available for viewing from 15.2.2024 January to XNUMX February XNUMX.

The draft of Riihimäki's general plan 2050 has been prepared in accordance with the goals decided by the city council on 19.12.2022 December XNUMX. The general plan complies with and promotes the goals presented in the city's strategy and ensures that the areas reserved for construction enable the predicted population development and housing production.

The Riihimäki master plan 2050 revises, updates and supplements the Riihimäki master plan 2017, which entered into force in 2035. The master plan is a general land use and transport plan that guides community development far into the future. In the future, the plan is to review the general plan every second council term.

During your visit, you can give feedback on the draft master plan

The draft material to be displayed consists of a plan map, plan markings and regulations, and a plan description. You can express your opinions about the master plan material during the visit. The opinion is addressed to the zoning and it should be delivered to the registry office (Eteläinen Asemakatu 2, PO Box 125, 11101 Riihimäki or kirjaamo@riihimaki.fi).

Statements are also requested from the necessary authorities and communities. Opinions and statements are processed by the city council.

It is also possible to give feedback on the draft general plan through a map survey. There is a link to the map survey from the formula's website. The map survey is open from 15.1 January to 15.2.2024 February XNUMX.

In addition, an information and discussion event on the draft general plan will be organized on Wednesday, January 24.1.2024, 17.30, starting at 2:XNUMX p.m. at the address Eteläinen Asemakatu XNUMX (Matkakeskus street level, community center Riksula). The opinions expressed by the participants at the event are recorded in a memorandum prepared for the event.

Based on the feedback received from the draft, a general plan proposal is being prepared, which aims to be made visible towards the end of 2024. The city council ultimately decides on the approval of the master plan. The target year for the approval of the master plan is 2025.

Master plan solution

In the general plan, the current urban structure is supplemented and compacted, especially in the center and station area. In addition, site zoning has started with the residential area reservations of the Koko and Herajoki general plan that border on the current urban structure. Together, these areas will meet the city's need for housing plots until 2050.

The master plan also prepares for various forecasts of the city's long-term population growth by assigning housing reserve areas to the areas of Arolammi and southern Vahteristo, as well as in relation to the area of ​​the sub-master plan of Kalmu.

These reservations can be realized towards the end of the time period of the general plan, if population development and the need for housing production create the conditions for their implementation in the future.

The general plan also enables increasing the supply of business and commercial plots by reserving workplace areas along main thoroughfares and traffic junctions, as well as along the railway. The schedule and sequence of these areas' implementation are influenced by, among other things, the attractiveness of the areas and business cycles.
