The proposal for Riihimäki's master plan 2050 has been completed and in accordance with the decision made by the Riihimäki City Council on December 2, 2024, the master plan proposal will be open for viewing from December 16 to January 31, 2025. The plan proposal can be viewed in electronic form on the website riihimaki.fi/yleiskaava2050.
The proposal of the master plan 2050 has been prepared in accordance with the goals decided by the city government on December 19, 2022 as a master plan with legal effect. The general plan covers the entire city area, with the exception of the Kalmu sub-general plan area that came into effect in 2015, which remains in effect. Riihimäki's master plan work looks to 2050.
Riihimäki's general plan 2050 revises, updates and supplements the current Riihimäki general plan 2035. The general plan promotes the goals presented in the city's RakasRiksu2035 strategy and ensures that the areas set aside for construction enable the predicted population development and housing production.
The general land use planning of the city of Riihimäki is a continuous process in which plans are revised, updated, supplemented and implemented on a rolling basis. In the future, the plan is to review the general plan every second council term.
The master plan proposal has been prepared based on the latest survey information, further planning recommendations presented in the impact assessment, feedback received from the draft plan, and negotiations with various parties.
In the general plan, Riihimäki's current compactness of the urban structure will be preserved. Primarily, the existing urban structure will be supplemented, the most important being the station area and the city center.
The new residential areas in the Koko and Herajoki areas that have already been planned and indicated in the master plan will be able to meet the city's need for housing plots until 2050, according to the current population and housing production forecast.
The master plan also prepares for various forecasts of the city's long-term population growth by assigning housing reserve areas to the areas of Arolammi and southern Vahteristo, as well as in relation to the area of the sub-master plan of Kalmu.
These reservations can be realized towards the end of the time period of the general plan, if population development and the need for housing production create the conditions for their implementation in the future.
The general plan also enables increasing the supply of business and commercial plots by reserving workplace areas along main thoroughfares and traffic junctions, as well as along the railway. The largest concentration of workplaces in the general plan is formed around the Arolammi interchange. A master plan will be drawn up for the area. The general plan presents the target state of land use and the planning principles guiding further planning.
In addition to the plan map and its provisions, the proposal material to be made available consists of two annexed maps with legal effects. (1. Cultural history and 2. Nature values). The general plan map, the plan markings and regulations and the annexed maps of the plan map are complemented by the description of the general plan and its appendices.
You can submit reminders about the general plan material during the visit. The reminder is addressed to the planning department, and it should be delivered to the registry office (Eteläinen Asemakatu 2, PO Box 125, 11101 Riihimäki or kirjaamo@riihimaki.fi). Statements are also requested from the necessary authorities and communities. Reminders and statements are processed by the city council.
In addition, an information and discussion event will be organized for the residents of the city on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, starting at 17.30:3 p.m. at Antoni's house at Öllerinkatu 11100, XNUMX Riihimäki. The feedback given by the participants at the event is recorded in the memorandum prepared for the event.
The master plan proposal is finalized based on the feedback received from the proposal. The city government processes the plan proposal and any reminders with their counterparts, and presents the plan's approval to the city council. The city council decides on the approval of the master plan. The target year for the approval of the master plan is 2025.
