The City of Riihimäki's early childhood education customer survey was carried out in the autumn of 2025. A total of 284 guardians responded to the survey in the Daisy system. The survey response rate was 16%. The survey concerned daycare centers, preschool education, family daycare and open early childhood education, as well as service guidance. Respondents rated the statements on a scale of 1–5.

Customers gave an average rating of 4,5

In the survey, customers gave the early childhood education services an average rating of 4,5.

According to the responses, early childhood education and preschool education have succeeded in creating a safe, positive culture that supports friendship and interaction skills and takes into account the individual needs of the child. According to the guardians, children also get enough time to go outside and exercise. Based on the survey, satisfaction with the start of care has also increased.

Service guidance has been developed

Early childhood education service guidance has been strengthened during 2025 by developing websites and contact practices, among other things. New clients have been actively contacted during the application process to ensure that a suitable early childhood education place is found for the child as smoothly as possible.

Discussions with staff provide support

According to the survey responses, guardians feel that they receive support from staff in difficult situations and that discussions with staff are felt to support the child's growth and development. Discussion moments in early childhood education and preschool are therefore an important part of everyday life and cooperation.

According to the responses, children also enjoy early childhood education and preschool education very much.

Development of information flow

Development targets in early childhood education will be raised in 2026

  • rest time practices that are assessed and developed by staff on a daycare-specific basis
  • information flow about the child's day, so that the guardian can have a better picture of the content of the child's day (games, friends, emotions, practicing various skills or learning moments)
  • Strengthening the use of the Daisy system as a tool for information flow: additional training will be provided for staff, and it is hoped that this will also increase the activity of guardians in using Daisy.

The results of the customer survey have been discussed in early childhood education units, administration, the Education and Welfare Board, and with the parents' association.
