Riihimäki Pride week celebrates equality

This year we are celebrating a whole Pride week in Riihimäki from 10 to 16. June. During the week, you can make rainbow flags and jewelry, make fabric bags with a Pride theme, or take part in making a community art piece. A musical dance course and a burlesque workshop are also organized during the week.

On Tuesday, June 11, Riihimäki library will host a panel discussion on equality in the sports world. The speakers are ex-boxer Elina Gustafsson, ex-footballer and Miro Olsoni, known from the Jäbät & tutunet community, and Mäntsälän Seta chairman Fineas Dylan. Panu Autio, executive director of the Football Association, will host the event.

On Wednesday, you can participate in the "Peace in faith and hope from connection" evening at Keskuskirke, where the program includes talk about the Pride theme, music, communion and coffee.

On Friday, the party will be held at Granit Square

The traditional Pride parade will take place on Friday, June 14. The procession leaves from Riihimäki Theater along Hämeenkatu to Granit aukio at 17.45:18. The Pride party starts at Granit Square at 20.30 p.m. and continues until XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.

The Pride party is hosted by the charismatic Tommi Kostekivi, who might be inspired to sing about love himself. The party features Valoisa Sal's Grupo Luminoso's fast-paced dance salute from Helsinki's samba carnival and burlesque performances by Mindy M Magnolia and Lady Misty May.

City Council President Miia Nahkuri brings the city's greeting to the Pride celebration. At the Pride party, you can also enjoy the wonderful Divet show and Hilla Hannonen's music. At the end of the party, Granit square turns into a disco open to everyone, with DJ Rosita in charge of the atmosphere.

At Granit Square, you can also make community art, spin the wheel of fortune and get your face painted. You can get a feel-good message from the Riihimäki youth services and Ohjaamo operation point. You can also stop for a hug at the mothers' hug point and refuel for a short moment of warmth and closeness.
