Riihimäki Easter welcomes visitors

Riihimäki Easter is a traditional city event in Riihimäki that offers experiences for the whole family. A colorful program will be available throughout Easter from 18 to 21 April 2025.

You can get into the Easter spirit in advance, as Easter outings are held from Palm Sunday, April 13, until Maundy Thursday, April 17. Stop by the Galleria Tärinän Easter Market or the library's orienteering course during your outings.

A fun main event for the whole family on Saturday at Anton's house

On Easter Saturday, April 19th from 10 am to 14 pm, the yard of Anton's house will be full of Easter joy. Families with children are especially welcome, but adults will also enjoy the event. The main performer on the stage of Anton's house will be Taikuri Taija Taika, whose magic show will delight you from 11 am onwards. After the performance, Taikuri Taija will conjure balloon figures for the children to take home.

The Edustus Cheerleading group will also be on stage with their lively performance, not forgetting the already traditional Easter proclamation, which will be read this year by the vicar Sirpa Viherä. The program is free of charge.

"The late timing of Easter allowed us to utilize the entire Rautatienpuisto area. Öllerinkatu is closed to car traffic during the event, so it is recommended to arrive by public transport, on foot or by bike," says cultural producer Minttu Seppo.

Easter joke workshop, pony rides, mämmi tasting

The entire Rautatienpuisto park area will have fun activities for the Saturday event. There will be an Easter joke workshop, pony rides and a tasting of mämmi. There will be bags of sunflower seeds to hand out to make the whole of Riihimäki bloom, and of course there will be cute farm animals to pet. You can find bargains at the Ö-talo Easter Market and freshly baked doughnuts will be available in the café in the Antoni courtyard building.

This year, the world will be saved one cup at a time at Riihimäki Easter, as we will only use recyclable and washable GreenCup products at the Mämmipiste and the Doughnut Café. With this eco-friendly act, we will minimize the amount of waste and reduce the event's carbon footprint.

Easter holidays bring exceptions to local traffic

Riihimäki local transport, or R-transport, will operate on Good Friday, April 18, and on Easter Monday, April 21. Sunday services, or lines 1 and R-kiyti, will operate on these days. On the weekend, they will operate according to normal weekend schedules.
