Riihimäki Easter invites city dwellers into the spring mood

Riihimäki Easter once again invites city residents and visitors to a joyful and spring event. The traditional city event brings Easter atmosphere, experiences and activities for all ages from 3 to 6 April 2026. As part of the Riihimäki City Easter festivities, the Spotti Theatre Days for children and young people will also be held on 4 to 5 April. The event will feature performances from children and young people's theatre groups, and the Lemi Youth Society, the Finnish Theatre Institute's Argan Group and the Riihimäki Youth Theatre will be participating in the event, among others. The performances will be at Kino Sampo and Riihimäki Theatre.

The outings start on Saturday, March 28th.

You can get into the Easter festive mood in advance, as the Easter outings start on Saturday, March 28 and continue until Maundy Thursday, April 2. During the outings, you can stop by the Easter sale at Galleria Tärinä, for example, or take part in the library's craft activities.

Main event on Saturday

On Easter Saturday, April 4, Antoni's house (Öllerinkatu 3) and its surroundings will be filled with Easter joy. The program at the Easter Saturday spring festival is designed especially for families with children, and there is plenty to do for adults too. The main performers of the day will be the charming clown couple Nelli and Niilo, who will delight the audience with their performances at 11 am and 13 pm. After the performances, children will receive happy balloon characters.

Impro will entertain the whole family in the Antoni Hall at 10:15 and 12. The day's atmospheric traditions also include the Easter proclamation, which this year will be read by the vicar Sirpa Viherä. The Spring Festival on the Saturday of the Week will be opened at 10:00 by Sanna Saarela, the children's and youth theatre event Spotin.

According to the city's cultural producer Minttu Seppo, the event will spread widely throughout the entire Rautatienpuisto area next to the train station.

"There will certainly be plenty of experiences for all ages, as we have significantly increased the program this year. The Spotti Theater Days for children and young people, which have become a tradition, also offer many interesting performances during the weekend."

On Saturday, children will also have the Verinsa fairy tale adventure at 10:15 and 12, as well as pony rides starting at 10:30. As is traditional, the event will also include a tasting of mämmi, sunflower seed bags will be distributed to make the whole of Riihimäki bloom, and cute farm animals will be there to be petted.

You can enjoy the market atmosphere of the event at the Ö-talo Easter Market and the mini market in the former Sportia store, where you can find wonderful finds for Easter and
until spring.

Reusable cups in use – don't throw them away

Riihimäki Easter also takes the environment into account. This year, the event will save the world one cup at a time, as both the Mämmipiste and the café organized by the Ukrainians in Riihimäki use only washable and reusable GreenCup products. This ecological choice reduces the amount of waste and reduces the event's carbon footprint.

Easter holidays bring exceptions to local traffic

On Friday 3rd and Monday 6th April, the service will operate according to Sunday traffic, meaning that line 1 and the on-demand service R-kiyti will be operating. On the weekend, the service will operate according to the normal weekend schedule.
