New students are accepted at Riihimäki Music College in order of registration

Registration for new students for basic art education studies at the Riihimäki Music Institute opens on Saturday, April 12th at 11 am. All residents of the municipalities of Riihimäki, Loppi and Hausjärvi can apply for the lessons.

No entrance exam

There is no entrance exam to start studying music, but students are accepted in the order they register. Applications for the music play school and open department studies also begin at the same time.

Registration for studies opens earlier than in previous years. Applicants will also receive decisions on whether to obtain a student place about a month earlier, in May.

Discover musical instruments at MusaFestari

The Music Institute is looking for new players, especially for orchestral instruments. The selection of instruments is really wide and you can come and get to know the instruments at MusaFestare on Saturday, April 12th from 11 am to 14 pm. The event is free and is part of the city's Children's Cultural Saturdays series. Come listen to small concerts, meet the music institute staff and try out instruments at the music institute's main building at Valtakatu 10. The children's favorite Musa the Teddy Bear will also be visiting!

Music studies are for all ages

People of all ages can study music, although the majority of students are children and young people. Basic art education studies progress from one level to the next and they include music education in a variety of ways in orchestras and ensembles, music visualization subjects and also playing lessons. Studies proceed according to the curriculum.

The open department of the music institute is intended for people who only want to study in private lessons or, for example, try out a certain instrument a few times. The students pay for the open department entirely themselves, while the municipalities and the state contribute to the costs of basic art education.
