The children and young people of Riihimäki are making an exhibition at the Museum of Technology in Helsinki

Children and young people from Riihimäki organize an exhibition about the relationship between man and technology at the Museum of Technology in Helsinki. The exhibition will open in the spring of next year and will be open throughout the summer season, until the fall of 2024.
The works in the exhibition are created in several elementary schools in Riihimäki, Riihimäki art school, Riihimäki music college, Riihimäki Youth Theater and Riihimäki high school.
Also in robotics education in Riihimäki schools, the theme of the fall and spring semesters is the relationship between humans and technology. The city of Riihimäki is the only municipality in Finland that offers robotics education based on early childhood education and curricula from kindergarten to the end of high school.
"It is wonderful to be able to plan an exhibition of the works of our young people. We, the teachers who are part of the working group, have gotten started with our student groups and already wonderful works have been created using a variety of techniques, such as miniature models of household appliances built from robotics parts, humorous stop-motion animations of encounters with various devices, as well as plenty of compelling paintings and drawings", project manager of the exhibition, robotics developer teacher Eero Kortelahti tells.
The Museum of Technology has already held several community exhibitions in the past, which the museum does together with its partners. Community exhibitions enrich the contents of the museum's basic exhibitions and diversify perspectives on technology.
"In museums, as in society more broadly, adults tell children and young people what the world is like and what we are shaping it to be. In the upcoming exhibition, the focus will be on children and young people, who will tell us what the world looks like, what we hope for and how we want to influence it. We live in a world permeated by technology, where the dominant voice is that of adults. Now it's the children's and young people's turn," says community manager Riina Linna from the Museum of Technology.
The Museum of Technology is a nationally responsible museum that records, researches and shares information about the cultural heritage of industry and technology. The museum's basic exhibitions Tekniikana maa and Etäunelmia tell about Finns as developers and users of technology.
Community exhibitions are organized in an exhibition space of about 70 square meters, which merges into the main exhibition hall of the museum.
The Museum of Technology is located in Helsinki's Old Town, at Viikintie 1D. The museum is visited by 30000–35000 visitors each year, during the summer season alone, around 10 people visit the museum.
