Riihimäki's circular economy week will be celebrated for the third time on April 15-21.4.2024, XNUMX.

During the event week, different aspects of the circular economy, such as borrowing, recycling and reducing, will be highlighted. In addition to this, the week will increase awareness of the circular economy, its various aspects and the circular economy operators located in Riihimäki.

"With the circular economy week in Riihimäki, the circular economy will become more familiar to all city residents. During the week, schools reflect and evaluate how well the circular economy is realized in their own school's everyday life. Visitors to Riksula will be exposed to various aspects of the circular economy, from lending through repair to waste recycling, with the help of versatile theme software. The possibilities of the circular economy are also presented in the library and recycling center through borrowing, tuning and recycled products," says environmental expert Jenni Takala.

Leave your request for tools at the library

In the Riihimäki city library (Kauppakatu 16) you can leave your wish for participatory budgeting in tools purchased with 1000 euros. Tools can be borrowed later with a library card, once the tools have been acquired. You can also buy library clearance books cheaply. The library has a permanent book exchange shelf where you can bring or take reading home.

In Riksula, we learn about borrowing

Riksula has a circular economy program on several days. On Monday, April 15, from 12 to 14 p.m., we will get to know the loan companies and the items to borrow. The Riihimäki region's Martat, OmaisOiva, Riihimäki city library's goods lending office, the Astronomical Society and Kanta-Häme Bone Association's Riihimäki club are participating.
On Monday from 14:15 to XNUMX:XNUMX, there will be a circular economy week quiz.

On Tuesday, the city's environmental expert Jenni Takala will visit the Kulttuurin pärelli club from 10.30:11.30 to 12:14. On Thursdays from XNUMX:XNUMX pm to XNUMX:XNUMX pm in connection with the Levyraad, CDs are recycled on a bring-it-or-leave-it basis.

The meeting place Riksula is located on the street level of the Travel Center at Eteläinen Asemakatu 2.

Doing business at the recycling center is a practical act of circular economy every day

Bring the goods for circulation or make discoveries. During the circular economy week, the Riihimäki city recycling center's store (Sakonkatu 4) has changing offers on different goods. Continue the life cycle of the goods and at the same time reduce the purchase of new goods. The store is open normally on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 17 p.m., on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 18 p.m. At the weekend, the recycling center is closed.

The depot's recycling point is open from Monday to Friday

City depot recycling point (VO Mäkinen katu 2) is open during circular economy week during normal opening hours on Monday from 8 am to 18 pm, from Tuesday to Thursday from 8 am to 15.30:8 pm and on Friday from 13.30 am to XNUMX:XNUMX pm. You can bring household hazardous waste (formerly hazardous waste), electrical and electronic waste and metal scrap to the collection point free of charge.

Circular economy audits in elementary schools

In Riihimäki elementary schools, audits are organized during the circular economy week, which examine the implementation of certain aspects of the circular economy in the school environment and record development needs and deviations. With the results of circular economy audits, schools develop their operations in a more environmentally responsible direction.

You can find more information about the Circular Economy Week program from the city's website ja from the event calendar. Most of the events are free and open to everyone.

The circular economy refers to an economic system where raw materials and materials are kept in circulation, moving from owning to using, sharing, renting and recycling services, in which case valuable resources can be saved and environmental change and the waste problem can be curbed.

With the circular economy week, the city of Riihimäki implements the goal of sustainable growth as part of the everyday life of the city's residents.
