The Aukiot shopping event, organized for the first time, harnesses Granit aukio, Hämeenaukio and Asema-aukio as performance arenas, where you can also find product presentations and market conditions in a pop-up style. The same carnival spirit and mind-blowing discounts that are valid during the event will be created for the brick-and-mortar stores in our center.

The family event on Saturday, August 17 is open to everyone and free of charge.

The event is part of the initiative launched in the spring by the city of Riihimäki and Riihimäki Tilat ja Kehitys Oy The Rieha project, whose goal is to create vitality in our city center through events and experiences.

"We have involved more than 30 local companies and operators in the event. It has been particularly great that there has also been interest from large employers outside our city center," says Tomi Hänninen, the leader of the Rieha project, with joy.

One of the goals of the project, which is now realized in the shopping event, has been the allocation of the resources of business life through various joint projects and activities for the common benefit of different operators. The event has been seen as a platform that increases awareness and even boosts recruitment.

The program features versatile live music

In the squares, the seven-piece Maajo Band bringing a tropical breeze from Tampere, Gikattava Kakkiainen & MC Citykani dancing to families with children and Kaarlo from Riihimäki will perform, among others.

The most well-known restaurants offering live music in Riihimäki will be activated to offer an evening program for the event. The mood for the evening programs will be set by Asa, who will perform at Granit Square at 16 p.m. All event schedules will be announced closer to the event.

The program of the Aukiot shopping event is designed so that the participant has plenty of time to enjoy both the brick-and-mortar discounts and the performers themselves. The squares also have a more permanent program regardless of the time of day, from food stalls to smaller shows.

You still have time to join as a partner

The Aukiot shopping event can still include partners and program numbers.

"For companies and communities, there is a uniform marketing package for everyone, which includes, in addition to logo visibility and marketing materials, a possible pop-up tent site," Hänninen opens.

"We are also interested in various sport presentations of local hobby clubs or other possible program numbers," he adds.

The Aukiot shopping event is aimed not only at Riihimäkke residents, but also visitors from nearby municipalities. The goal is to bring experiences to our city center together with active business life, performers and other local operators.

"Together, let's create a vibrant city center and an annual event that boosts vitality in our city!" Hänninen encourages.
