The City of Riihimäki will provide international services to the municipality of Hausjärvi starting from January 1, 2026. Immigrants living in Hausjärvi will in the future receive the same settling-in and integration services as immigrants living in Riihimäki.

– From the beginning of 2026, the Kotola guidance and advice centre of the City of Riihimäki will serve immigrants living in Hausjärvi in all ​​matters, not only in the matters of the employment authority. For example, they will be able to participate in all immigrant group activities, such as Finnish language groups, says Juha Hiltunen, Integration Manager of the City of Riihimäki.

The agreement between the City of Riihimäki and the Municipality of Hausjärvi covers international services for both individual customers and employer customers.

– We offer employers operating in Hausjärvi, for example, support for recruiting foreigners and internationalization. We support immigrants hired by employers operating in Hausjärvi and their families in settling in the region, specifies Integration Manager Hiltunen.

The City of Riihimäki has offered employers language support for work try-outs of foreign-speaking people since September 2025 and has granted them recruitment funds for employing unemployed job seekers since October 2025. These services will also be available to employers operating in Hausjärvi since 2026.

The city of Riihimäki has also offered international services to immigrants living in Loppi since June 2025. The city of Riihimäki, the municipality of Hausjärvi and the municipality of Loppi belong to the South Häme employment area, which has operated as a local employment authority since the beginning of 2025. Each municipality in the employment area is responsible for providing international services that are not part of the tasks of the employment authority.

– Our employment area includes four municipalities, and the City of Riihimäki will provide international services to three of them in the future. This is a step towards strengthening regional internationality, which is also strongly linked to the vitality cooperation agreed upon by the municipalities, says Integration Manager Hiltunen with joy.
