The city of Riihimäki participates in the Häme24 preparedness exercise

The Regional Administrative Agency of Southern Finland will organize the Häme24 preparedness exercise in the Kanta and Päijät-Häme areas on the 3rd-5th. September 2024. The exercise brings together the region's municipalities, welfare areas and other security actors to develop their cooperation and capabilities in case of exceptional circumstances.

About 30 people from the city of Riihimäki will participate in the exercise.

"We are happy to participate in the exercise, because certainty in operating in disruptive situations and exceptional circumstances can only be achieved through pre-arranged, simulated situations. We want to keep our expertise in operating in disruptive situations high," says Ari Saarinen, the city's preparedness and security manager.

Participants practice activities in an imaginary civil defense situation. In the scenario of the exercise, the international situation has tightened, which has led to a weakening of the security situation of society in Finland, disruptions of critical infrastructure and an increase in the threat of military use of force. The theme of the exercise is current at the moment.

The exercise does not appear in Riihimäki's street view

The Häme24 preparedness exercise is implemented as a management exercise, the focus of which is crisis management of organizations and cooperation in disruptive situations and exceptional circumstances. Participants practice operating methods on a virtual training platform. The exercise does not appear in Riihimäki's streetscape to the townspeople.

The Häme24 exercise aims to develop not only the operational readiness of the participating organizations, but also their cooperation, situational awareness and civil protection readiness.

The exercise is organized simultaneously in connection with the local defense exercise led by the Armored Brigade.
