The City of Riihimäki is organizing events for new residents for the first time this year. The city invites residents who have recently moved to Riihimäki to the events with a welcome letter. The new procedure has been implemented since the beginning of 2026. The first welcome event will be organized in May 2026.

"The city already remembers all babies from Riihimäki with a small gift. Now it's the turn to remember the new residents. The event offers us the opportunity to welcome the new residents of Riihimäki. For new residents, it is an opportunity to get to know the city's services and other new residents," says Mayor Jouni Eho.

Approximately 1500 new residents move to Riihimäki each year. The city sends welcome letters to new residents throughout the year. Welcome events are organized twice a year, in spring and autumn. At the first welcome event, new residents can get acquainted with services such as early childhood education, basic education, integration and Riksula. Due to catering, advance registration is required for the welcome event.
