The City of Riihimäki will launch a campaign in December to collect memories, experiences and stories from residents of the city related to the glass city. The stories will be collected for three months from December 2025 to the end of February 2026 and can be submitted via the city's website at riihimaki.fi/lasikaupunki using the form.

The campaign aims to strengthen Riihimäki's identity as a glass city through the residents' own stories. The stories will enrich the 2026 marketing and tell the residents about the significance of the glass city.

– Glass has played an important role in the history of Riihimäki and in the lives of many families. We want to highlight how glass is seen in everyday life and memories, says Iida Riihimäki, marketing and communications expert.

Riihimäki still has two glass studios and the Finnish Glass Museum, which maintain the city's glass tradition. The Riihimäki glass studios are open all year round and participate in many events, so glassblowing is easy to experience. The glass history and changing exhibitions collected in the Glass Museum enrich Riihimäki's cultural offerings.

We hope that storytellers of all ages will participate in the campaign. The story can be a memory, a moment, a description of the meaning of glass, or even an experience with glass art. All stories are valuable and bring the city of glass to life from different perspectives.

We will be raffling off five R-product bags among all those who responded! The product bag contains Riihimäki-themed products. You will automatically participate in the raffle when you share your memories using the form.

Fill out the form on the Tell us about your glass memory page.
