A new Aukiot shopping event will be organized in Riihimäki on Saturday, August 17, 2024

On Saturday, August 17, 2024, an open and free Aukiot shopping event will be organized in the city center of Riihimäki, which combines performing arts, product presentations and sale campaigns of local brick-and-mortar stores. The event brings life to the city center throughout the day, offering a program in the city center squares: Asema Square, Granit Square and Hämeen Square. The companies and partners involved in the event will share more detailed information about the offers and the program on their own social media channels and on the Facebook event page of the shopping event. Additional information about the day's offer can also be found in the manuals distributed in the squares.

The Aukiot shopping event is a new annual event that we hope will grow bigger in the coming years. The Aukiot shopping event is one of the events implemented by Riihimäki Tilat ja Kehitys Oy and Riihimäki's city center revitalization project, Rieha.

Program in three squares

The day program of the event takes place from 11 a.m. to 17 p.m. at Asema-aukio, Granit aukio and Hämeenaukio and around the city center. Independent programs are organized in the evening, the schedules of which are published on the partners' own channels and on the Facebook event page of the shopping event. The squares are filled with versatile activities and performances, during which visitors can get to know the street food offered by the partners and the street art project. In addition to the squares, various events are also planned in Riihimäki's old market and in the streets of the city center.

Asema-aukio offers, among other things, skateboarding and live music, such as performances by Sähkösaga, Hoodikissa and 95 Deville. In addition, there are pop-up stalls and art performances. At Granit Square you can enjoy, among other things, live performances by Maajo Band and Asa. Kikatava Kakkiainen entertains the younger audience, and there is street food and various stalls. In Hämeenaukio, there will be bouncy jumps, coffees for seniors and live music, among other things. Here you can also get to know the demonstration of the tandem bicycle and the points of sale of the association of Ukrainians.
