In Riihimäki, the school place for those starting 1st grade in the fall must be confirmed by March 2nd.
The school placements of future 1st grade students will be announced to guardians in the Wilma system on Friday, February 14, 2025. Guardians have also received information about the school placement by letter home.
The school place must be confirmed as accepted at Wilma or a secondary school place must be applied for for the child at Wilma by March 2, 2025.
The secondary school placement application for basic education schools will be organized between February 14 and March 2, 2025. Decisions on secondary student admission will be sent to guardians and announced in Wilma on March 24.
Guardians of students applying for student places from another municipality must fill out an application on the Riihimäki City Student Admissions website. This applies to guardians of students from other municipalities who do not have Riihimäki Wilma IDs. Decisions will be sent to guardians of students applying from another municipality on March 24.
The student admission decision has been made in accordance with the student admission criteria approved by the Education and Welfare Board on March 6, 2024. The criteria can be read on the city's Student Admissions website.
Applications for school transport start on February 14th
The application period for school transportation for the 2025–2026 academic year is February 14–April 27, 2025.
Transportation is applied for using an electronic school transportation application. Any attachments that may affect the decision must be sent with the application to avoid delays in processing the application. Decisions on school transportation will be sent in June.
After the application period has expired, applications can still be sent, but school transportation cannot be guaranteed from the first day of school.
