Riemu museums will celebrate a joyful and event-filled Riemu week during the May Day week from April 28 to May 3, 2026. The program includes workshops, guided tours, performances, and other programs for visitors of all ages.

Joy Week program

Tuesday, April 28

15–17 p.m. workshop for the whole family. Make a lovely flower out of tissue paper for May Day, which you can attach to your hair, jacket or hat, for example. Instructor: Sari Kalliokoski / Flower Shop Kielo & Ketunleipä. Participation includes the museum admission fee.

At 16 pm, a public tour of the FLOWERPOWER – World of Flowers exhibition. Guided by the exhibition designer and curator. Admission to the museum is included in the price.

Wednesday, April 29

At 16 pm, a public tour of the Finnish Egyptological Society's Artifacts: Everyday Life in Ancient Egypt exhibition. Participation is included in the museum admission fee.

Starting at 4:30 PM, the program at the dance school Dance Art:

  • 4:30 p.m. dance school presentation point
  • 17 p.m. participatory dance moment
  • at 5:30 p.m. group, duo and solo performances by dance school students.

Thursday, April 30

At 11 o'clock films from the collections of the Riihimäki City Museum. The films include, among other things, the history of the Riihimäki Theatre, industry in the 1960s, reminiscences about the founder of the art museum, Pentti Wähäjärvi, clown jumps at the swimming pool, a display of ancient and national costumes and excerpts from the premiere of the summer theatre. The total duration of the films is approximately 1,5 hours. In addition, popcorn and mead will be served. Participation is included in the museum admission fee.

At 2:30 p.m., a public tour of the Stories from the City exhibition. Participation is included in the museum admission fee.

Saturday, May 2

12–16 p.m. Riihimäen Kuvataiteilijat ry's spring sale. Crafts, jewelry and art on sale. Free admission to the museum all day - it's worth checking out the exhibitions!

Sunday, May 3

11 am–17 pm The FLOWERPOWER – World of Flowers exhibition is open for the last day. Last chance to explore the experiential kingdom of flowers on display at the museum! For the price of the museum admission fee.
